Dr. Kristy vanMarle, Lab Director

I joined the University of Missouri-Columbia as an assistant professor in the Dept. of Psychological Sciences in 2007. My research investigates the development of quantity and object representations across a range of ages, focusing primarily on infancy and early childhood. In particular, I am interested identifying and characterizing the mechanisms that underlie early quantity representation and how they may provide the foundation for later-developing, uniquely human abilities such as the acquisition of verbal counting.

Carissa Rounkles, Lab Coordinator

I joined the Developmental Cognition Lab as a Research Assistant in July 2008 - now the Lab Coordinator/Research Associate as of May 2009. After graduating with a Bachelor's in Interior Design from Louisiana Tech University with award winning designs in-school and post-graduation: I realized my area of talent is interior design, but my passion is for psychology. Having received a 2nd Bachelor's in Psychology from the University of Missouri in Summer 2010, I am now entering graduate school this fall 2011 in pursuit of a Master of Social Work (MSW). My concentration: Clinical Practice to become a Licensed Clinical Therapist (LCSW). My area of interest: Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) incorporating alternative therapies (e.g. animal, dance, art, exercise).
