ORGANIZATIONS/SITES INVOLVED WITH CLIMATE CHANGE ISSUES

(our intention is to exclude commercial groups)

1Sky. One Climate. One Future. One Chance. "Right now, across the country, scores of organizations, leaders and everyday citizens are ready to tackle global warming. The movement is building at an astonishing pace—but to bring about the truly revolutionary change that's needed, we have to come together. 1Sky was created in 2007 to focus the power of millions of concerned Americans on a single goal: bold federal action by 2010 that can reverse global warming."

350 Global Warming. Global Action. Global Future. "350 is the red line for human beings, the most important number on the planet. The most recent science tells us that unless we can reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to 350 parts per million, we will cause huge and irreversible damage to the earth.... Our first job is to make sure everyone knows the target so that our political leaders feel real pressure to act. Reaching 350 ppm will require unprecedented international cooperation. The United Nations is negotiating a treaty that could put the world on a course to solve the climate crisis, but the current plans for the treaty are much too weak to get us back to safety...."

Alliance for Climate Protection

American Wind Energy Association. News.

Apollo Alliance. "Clean Energy, Good Jobs, Freedom from Foreign Oil.... The Apollo Alliance is a coalition of business, labor, environmental, and community leaders working to catalyze a clean energy revolution in America to reduce our nation’s dependence on foreign oil, cut the carbon emissions that are destabilizing our climate, and expand opportunities for American businesses and workers."

*Architecture 2030 is "a non-profit, non-partisan and independent organization… established in response to the global-warming crisis by architect Edward Mazria in 2002. 2030’s mission is to rapidly transform the US and global Building Sector from the major contributor of greenhouse gas emissions to a central part of the solution to the global-warming crisis. Our goal is straightforward: to achieve a dramatic reduction in the global-warming-causing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of the Building Sector by changing the way buildings and developments are planned, designed and constructed."

Beyond Nuclear. Working for a world free from nuclear power and nuclear weapons

BREAZE, Local Solutions to Climate Change. [Australian]. -- "Ballarat Renewable Energy and Zero Emissions (BREAZE) is a non-profit grassroots organisation, which has come about because members of the Ballarat community want to demonstrate that individual and community-based actions can make a difference in our response to climate change."

Knowing a busy lifestyle is as American as apple pie, we've created straight forward actions that enable us all to make a difference, one step at a time….One of the simplest ways you can have a direct impact on global warming and the environment is to help create more renewable energy sources."

*Carbon Tax Center. "Why revenue-neutral carbon taxes are essential, what's happening now, and how you can help. The next Administration and Congress will be called upon to address 21st Century climate realities. In a carbon-constrained world, a permanent, essential feature of U.S. policy must be a carbon taxthat reduces the emissions that are driving global warming."

*Friends of the Earth on Global Warming. Friends of the Earth asks much of the United States and the world when it comes to global warming. Current scientific thinking believes that the global warming already being experienced by the planet is not a limited cycle but a feedback loop that has the potential to change our home into something unrecognizably bleak. But the science also has a bright spot: humans may be able to control this phenomenon. To be blunt, it will take a sea change in the way we live as a planet in order to hit the narrow window of opportunity with which we have been blessed. Not only must we radically change the way we produce and consume energy, we must reformulate our relationship with the rest of the world's peoples so that each of them can be their own best stewards of the land on which they live....
